Sadly, this catastrophic event resulted in the tragic loss of three residents from the nearby Shiyabazi informal settlement, situated on the river flood plain. The reopening of this bridge is part of a broader network of rehabilitation projects, aimed to cover approximately 5.2 million square meters over the next Medium Term Framework (MTF) period. Furthermore, Sibiya highlighted that part of the focus for this initiative is to enhance the lifespan of existing road networks through comprehensive resealing processes.
