Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Velenkosini Hlabisa, is urging South Africans to verify their voter registration details in light of the upcoming 2026 Local Government Elections scheduled for 4 November. This call is crucial as the closure of the voters’ roll will follow the official proclamation of the election date.
Following a recent registration weekend on 1 and 2 August, over 1.7 million citizens registered or updated their details, with 291,806 being first-time voters.
