Nonesi Mall in Komani, Eastern Cape, marked the official completion of its R76.1 million upgrade on August 13, 2026. This major extension introduces 3,100 square meters of retail space, raising the mall's total area to nearly 31,000 square meters. The redevelopment aims to strengthen the mall’s position as a premier shopping and services destination in the region.
The project has attracted four new major tenants and has enhanced the existing shopping landscape by relocating and refurbishing the Clicks store and pharmacy, while also welcoming Edgars and expanding Sidestep. The refurbishment has resulted in significant economic benefits, creating a total of 356 jobs, with 174 of those being allocated to local residents. Vukile Property Fund, which owns Nonesi Mall, invested heavily in local resources, contributing R39.7 million towards local subcontractors and materials. Around R12.5 million of this expenditure stayed within the local community, while R26.6 million was directed towards suppliers in other areas of the Eastern Cape.
