According to Parliament, its ICT records do not show any ongoing laptop problems saying most of the reported issues were about routine access or account matters.
Parliament has disputed claims by National Coloured Congress leader Fadiel Adams that laptop problems delayed his responses to the Madlanga Commission.
The MP made a brief appearance before the inquiry on Tuesday to explain why he could not testify as scheduled.
The commission postponed Adams' testimony to next Wednesday, revealing that it had only received his sworn affidavit and supporting documents on Monday night.
What was wrong with Adams' laptop?
Adams was expected to detail his involvement in the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption's (IDAC's) controversial probe into alleged corruption within Crime Intelligence.
He said the delays in accessing correspondence from the commission since last October, were because of persistent challenges with his Parliament-issued laptop, which he claimed had been problematic for 18 months.
The explanation prompted questions from Commission Chairperson Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga, who questioned how Adams had been able to perform his parliamentary duties if he could not reliably access electronic communication.
Adams said he had sometimes had to seek information from other people.
What was Parliament's response?
However, in a statement to the media, Parliament rejected the claims, saying they create the impression that it failed to provide a member with the functional equipment needed for constitutional responsibilities.
Spokesperson Moloto Mothapo said they reviewed the ICT Service Desk records of technical support logged for him during that time.
"The records do not show a persistent problem with his laptop. The ICT matters logged for Mr Adams were largely routine access and account-related requests.
"This included a Windows password reset in January 2025, an ERP password reset in June 2025, assistance with logging into device in July 2025, a Wi-Fi update in January 2026, and the ERP disclosure request in June 2026."
